An Introduction to NA

An Introduction to NA

Narcotics Anonymous is a global community-based organisation with a multilingual and multicultural membership.NA was founded in 1953, in Los Angeles, California, USA.  Today there are nearly 67,000 meetings held weekly in 139 countries worldwide, speaking 65 languages.  NA literature has been translated into 40 different languages.

The Narcotics Anonymous primary message is that any addict can stop using drugs, lose the desire to use, and find a new way to live.

The name “Narcotics Anonymous” is not meant to imply a focus on any particular drug.  The NA approach makes no distinction between drugs (including alcohol).

Membership is free and NA has no affiliation with any outside organizations.

See the “Meetings” Tab in the Main Menu on our Home Page for local meeting information.

NA offers recovery from the effects of addiction through working a 12-step program, including regular attendance at group meetings.  The group atmosphere provides help from peers and offers an ongoing support network for addicts who wish to pursue and maintain a drug free lifestyle. Together we are challenging the old myth: “once an addict, always an addict”.

Thanks to NA, we do recover.
